Job Description

  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to meet operational requirements

  • Work with various third parties (Customers, Developers, System Administrators, and Vendors) to resolve issues

  • Maintain documentation through a ticketing system and update operational procedures as needed.

  • Working knowledge of various operation systems - Linux, Solaris, Unix, VMWare, and Windows 2003 or 2008 Server.

  • Strong, demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities as well as communication skills.

    Note: In addition to the Essential Functions, also performs similar work-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Experience with centralized event management tools (e.g. Tivoli Omnibus, Tivoli Monitoring 6.x, BMC, SiteScope, UpTime, etc.).

  • Database knowledge (Oracle and MS SQL) is required.

  • Excellent reliability and dependability.

  • Strong service-oriented approach and able to manage multiple projects in an environment where work priorities change rapidly.

Required Experience

  • College degree preferred

  • Some college required.

Working Conditions, such as:

  • General office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

  • A willingness to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, is expected. The candidate will be expected to assist with coverage when other engineers are unavailable.

Physical Demands, such as:

  • Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

  • The work requires light physical effort with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials in the 10-30 pound range and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects. May require normal range of hearing and vision to operate machinery.
