The Project Engineer position supports the Project Manager as the technical leader for the project. The Project Engineer can act as the liaison between the customer and the plants, allowing the Project Manager to manage the contractual obligations. This position will also be essential during the quotations stage to minimize risks and technical challenges during execution.
As the Project Engineer, you will:
Work on multiple projects at one time
Have a clear understanding of customer specifications
Review drawings from plants to ensure technical compliance
Own coordination of plant engineering to ensure system operations
Own coordination with ehouse vendors including creation of cable schedules
Own development of project ITPs (Inspection Test Procedures), one-lines, and other required project drawings / documents not created by plants
Participate in FATs (factory acceptance tests)
Support Project Manager thru the lifecycle of the project understanding critical actions / schedule commitments
Effectively identify, understand and communicate changes in scope of work to the project manager
Possess a thorough understanding of our capabilities
Identify and suggest improvements to processes and procedures
Assist in creation of O&Ms
Ensure GE EHS standard is fulfilled during project execution
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in electrical / energy / mechanical engineering (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Project Management)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Planning
Proficient English speaker
Proven experience within the Electrical Distribution business with relevant equipment product knowledge
Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively work in a matrix team / organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proactive attitude with ability to make things happen
Ability to interface with customers and management at various levels
Ability to work in an international environment
Knowledgeable in dealing with EPCs and their processes
Strong skills in developing customer relationships
Creative in issue resolution
High energy level - self-starter
Highly Analytical / Clear Thinker
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and sense of urgency in dealing with tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, PowerPoint / Excel / Access
Some travel may be required
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
