Transcribes confidential medical reports or other recorded data and distributes materials.
Transcribes all relevant report types according to designated priority.
Maintains current terminology and professional style.
Refers to glossaries and other reference materials as necessary.
Directs report to proper destination according to established policies and procedures.
Changes printer toner and paper as needed.
Responds to telephone, written and in-person inquiries.
Provides transcription-related service to customers including retrieval of missing dictation, coaching users through hardware and software use and generally assisting customers toward problem resolution.
Refers more difficult issues to supervisor.
Operates standard office and dictation equipment.
Operates hardware and software necessary to facilitate recovery procedures.
- Minimum six (6) months of medical transcriptionist experience.
- Post high school coursework in medical terminology; or equivalent related experience.
License, Certification, Registration
Demonstrated ability in use of dictation equipment to retrieve dictations.
Ability to type for extended periods of time. excellent knowledge of spelling and grammar.
Type 60 wpm.
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, customer service, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork and written communication.
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing.
Acute care facility experience.
Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT).
Post high school coursework in anatomy.
