Kaiser Permanente Leadership and Organizational Development Associate in Honolulu, Hawaii

Provides focused organizational effectiveness and process excellence consulting and project management services to business units and/or regional projects that address critical business issues/changes. Provides leadership to project team achieving specified goals of project. Works on projects of moderate to broad scope and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Provides group and process facilitation, project coordination, and communication to implement, sustain and optimize project outcomes. Assists Director, Organizational Effectiveness and Senior Consultants with assigned organizational development interventions. Supports the effective functioning of the department by providing operational and program coordination and management. Participates in organizational change efforts impacting multiple levels of stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with the business unit leader/project leader to define and implement a project plan to effect operational or strategic changes.

  • Leads and provides technical leadership to projects. Sets strategic direction of projects. Develops project plans which identify key issues, problems, approaches, performance metrics and resources required. Designs processes to address identified problems.

  • Establishes team membership and negotiates time commitments and resource allocation. Provides staff leadership to multi-disciplinary teams. Motivates team members and facilitates team meetings, providing group dynamic and process facilitation interventions to support team effectiveness. Acts as liaison, problem solver, and facilitator. Cultivates and reinforces appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors. Provides guidance to team on performance and productivity issues.

  • Accountable for development of project documentation for leadership and clients to facilitate sharing of project outcomes and best practices. Plans and facilitates meetings. Makes formal presentations to various audiences.

  • Assesses project impact on workforce. May include developing training programs and/or organizational development interventions for different levels of audiences.

  • Partners with Director, Organizational Effectiveness and/or Senior Consultants to provide focused organizational development and consulting services to help the Region accelerate change, build people and performance solutions, and ensure organizational success.

  • Under the direction of the Director, Organizational Effectiveness or Sr Consultant, implements change management and process excellence interventions and tactics within assigned groups, and monitors effectiveness of initiatives delivered.

  • Contributes to building core content, templates, and methodologies within the OE team appropriate to specific client interventions.

  • Provides coordination and management for the OE department and OE programs including schedule management, consultant management, budget management, and program coordination.

  • Utilizes and shares best practices within a network of OE practitioners in the Region.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in organization change, organization design, performance improvement, and/or project management.


  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, human resource management, or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated strength in knowledge of human behavior and basic understanding of group dynamics.

  • Demonstrated strength in knowledge of business operations and management practices and principles.

  • Project management and client management skills.

  • Demonstrated competency in facilitation, coaching, team building, conflict resolution, problem solving and project management.

  • Strong oral/written communication skills, business acumen, and partnering/influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders including internal client groups and external vendors.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, and spreadsheet PC applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Operational experience.

  • Health care or health insurance knowledge.
