POSITION TITLE: Worship Leader

DEPARTMENT: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii)

SUPERVISOR: Equipping & Discipleship Director

FLSA STATUS: Non -Exempt

RELIGIOUS SUMMARY: Although this position does not require or confer ordination, this is a “ministry position.” Only Christians with a demonstrated strong personal faith and agreement with the teaching of Holy Scripture as explained in The Salvation Army “Articles

of War” and the “Handbook of Doctrine” will be considered for this position. Maintaining a lifestyle and witness consistent with the above stated documents is required for continued employment.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Worship Leader will oversee the planning, preparation and leadership of the Kroc Church Worship Team. The Worship Leader will be responsible for the spiritual growth and overall spiritual health of the Worship Team including the AV Team.

The Worship Leader will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Music or related degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  2. Demonstrated excellence as a musician, teacher and performer.

  3. Experience leading church worship teams

  4. Experience discipling and spiritually leading Christians.

  5. Demonstrated group management skills.

  6. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.


  1. Active uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing.

  2. Familiarity with Hawaii and local culture.


  1. Lead the Kroc Church Worship Team during practices and worship services.

  2. Commit to each item in the Kroc Church Worship Team Covenant.

  3. Utilize the process for onboarding new Worship Team members as laid out in the Worship Team Covenant.

  4. Prepare and practice worship song arrangements and teach them to the Worship Team.

  5. Coordinate and schedule Worship Team members utilizing Planning Center Online.

  6. Maintain the Worship Team database and ensure data in Planning Center Online is up-to-date.

  7. Coordinate with church staff and volunteers to make sure the Worship Center is prepared for services each week (stage and equipment setup).

  8. Keep the Worship Team Covenant for all Worship Team Members, holding them accountable and taking the necessary steps to ensure all members are compliant.

  9. Spiritually prepare for Worship Services and guide the Worship Team members to do the same.

  10. Oversee the AV Team, working closely with the AV Team Leader to ensure visual and audio elements of the Worship Services are prepared.

  11. Foster a team spirit and loving atmosphere among Worship Team Members.

  12. Lead and coordinate devotions, team building, service opportunities and fellowship activities to actively disciple and build the Worship Team.

  13. Plan worship services with the Weekend Services Team and Corps Officer.

  14. Meet, recruit, and train volunteers as needed to maintain a high-quality Worship Team.

  15. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.

  16. Assist with special church-wide events as assigned.

  17. Carry out decisions and instructions given by the Equipping and Discipleship Director in accordance with Salvation Army policy and procedures.

  18. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.

  19. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.

  20. Attend staff meetings as required.


  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

  2. Worship Leader may be required to perform duties away from the Kroc Center Hawaii campus (i.e. performances, rehearsals, etc.).
