POSITION TITLE: Shallow Water Lifeguard I

CLASSIFICATION: Part Time, On Call, Hourly

Under the general direction of the Aquatic Coordinator, Shallow Water Lifeguard I will

ensure the safe and orderly swimming environment; assisting with day-to-day activities of the pool, and ensuring a clean and enjoyable facility for members and guests.

The Shallow Water Lifeguard I will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in

the community.


  1. American Red Cross Attraction Lifeguard Certification First Aid /CPR

  2. Will accept candidates who are in High school or enrolled in College.

  3. Must be at least 15 years of age

  4. A child labor certificate or "work permit" is required for minors under the age of 16 years old.

  5. Previous customer service work experience helpful.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.


  1. Monitors all activities in the Adventure cove pool; which includes a Zero Depth Splash pad and Playground area; Lazy River; and a Body and Tube slide; maintains a vigilant watch of the swimming pool areas in accordance with the operating procedures; prevent

accidents and takes necessary action to ensure the safety of all pool users and staff.

  1. Assists the aquatic staff in the monitoring of the aquatic center and help to consistently enforce all rules.

  2. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to aquatic center rules and regulations.

  3. Interacts with members and guests in a positive and pleasant manner.

  4. Greet and assist members and guests in a manner consistent with excellent customer service standards

  5. Assists lifeguards in maintaining the cleanliness of the pool area, locker rooms and facility.

  6. Assist with community activities as task

  7. Attendance training sessions, as well as staff meetings and in-service training.

  8. Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.

  9. Observe document and report safety issues to the appropriate supervisors.

  10. Support and communicate with supervisors and co-workers regarding routine and non-routine work-related issues or policies.

  11. Assume a schedule of flexible working hours, including weekends, holidays and evenings.

  12. Practice safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, Kroc Center Hawaii co-workers and the general public.

  13. Maintain a neat, professional appearance.

  14. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.

  15. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.

  16. Perform other assignments/duties as directed.
